SBS_screenshotSuoma Boazosámit - The Sámi Reindeer Herders Association of Finland has launched a new website on the Reindeer Portal. The Association was established in 1999 to address the significant challenges that face the special characteristics of Sámi reindeer husbandry in Finland. In Finland, reindeer husbandry is not ethnically limited to Sámi people as it is in Norway and Sweden (with small exceptions in both countries) and the vast majority of reindeer herders in Finland are Finnish with a practice of reindeer husbandry that more resembles ranching. Sámi reindeer husbandry is limited to the three northernmost counties in Finnish Lapland.

The website is written in Sámi and Finnish and maintained from Haetta, a small Sámi and Finnish community close to the Norwegian border by the Association secretary, Minna Mäkitalo. You can visit the website here at www.suomaboazosamit.org
