The Reindeer Husbandry Administration of Norway, which is based in Alta, Norway, has recently published a report on the status and role of women in reindeer husbandry in Norway. Entitled Boazodoealahus nissonolbmot Norggas / Reindriftskvinner i Norge the report has been simultaneously published in Sami and Norwegian. The Report covers status, laws and the societal importance of women in reindeer husbandry who from the mid to late 20th Century were increasingly marginalised by Norwegian legislation.
The report also makes note of the work of the Association of World Reindeer Herders and the BIRGEN project hosted by the International Centre for Reindeer Husbandry. The Norwegian language report can be downloaded here and the Sami version here.
