WRH and ICR Wrap Up Week at UN Permanent Forum

unpfii-day-3-007_150pxMuch of the work of the Eighth session of the UN Permanent Forum has finished this week, with the majority of visitors and delegates leaving this weekend, including the representatives of the World Reindeer Herders Association and the International Centre for Reindeer Husbandry.
 
Pogodaev and Burgess made presentations of the book 'EALÁT. Reindeer Herders Voice', to more delegates, Council members, representatives of nation states (including China, the USA and Russia) and several institutional representatives, including the European Commission, the FAO and the ILO. Special attention was paid to delegates from the Russian federation.
 
The last two days have seen detailed presentations of the work of the UNDP and the FAO, the latter which made some mention of reindeer husbandry and the challenges facing pastoralism in general. In addition, there have been continued statements from the floor from indigenous peoples from around the world.
