Reindeer Ambassadors / Rennäringens Ambassadörer |
 The Reindeer Ambassador programme is a joint project supported by the Swedish Sami Parliament with additional support by the International Centre for Reindeer Husbandry and the Sami Reindeer Herders Association of Finland.
The program targets young reindeer herders who want to invest in outreach information, and engage in reindeer husbandry policy issues.
The program is open to anyone who wants to have the opportunity to develop leadership, citizenship and have an outgoing personality and are interested in working across borders.
The requirements laid down by the trainee program is high. Participants will develop in the formulation of ideas, public awareness and take on leadership roles in organizations and reindeer - institutions. Trainee Participants must participate in all meetings and be prepared to do homework between meetings.
The trainee program runs for 17 months. The meetings are provisionally bimonthly for a few days and should be located at various locations. Training is tailored to trainee participants and their reindeer herding activities. Participants must be prepared for extensive travel. The program is offered to six people each from Norway and Sweden, and two from Finland.
