EALAT-Information/ Outreach (and NORACIA) are preparing for community based workshops in the reindeer herding societies in the circumpolar north. Workshops will be held in Norway/ Sweden/ Finland, Yamalo-Nenets AO (20-23 September), Chukotka AO (in October), Sakha-Yakutia Rep (in April 2008), Nenets AO (summer of 2008) and Alaska (in 2009).
EALÁT-Information/ Outreach is supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nordic Council of Ministers and the Research Council of Norway. The workshops are organized by International Centre for Reindeer Husbandry (ICR) in close cooperation with Association of World Reindeer Herders (WRH), Reindeer Herders' Union of Russia, Saami Council and other EALÁT participants, and will report to the ministerial meeting in Arctic Council April 2009. EALÁT-Information/ Outreach is endorsed by the Arctic Council and the International Polar Year. The planned workshops will focus on practical adaptation to climate change and loss of grazing land in the circumpolar north. ICR will develop interview-guides for the workshops.
