 "This years second SAO Meeting was a success," says SAO Chair Karsten Klepsvik. "Actually I think it is the best SAO Meeting we ever had." "The meeting was held in a relaxed and constructive atmosphere. I am very thankful to the local organizers who made big efforts to create the best possible environment for the meeting in the heart of Sapmi."

 On the Reindeer Portal you can now watch Patricia Cochran's strong statement to the Arctic Council Senior Arctic Officials meeting that was held in Guovdageaidnu / Kautokeino, Norway, November 19/20, 2008. Patricia is Chair of the Arctic Council Indigenous Peoples Secretariat and is Chair of the Inuit Circumpolar Council. She is based in Nome, Alaska.

 The International Centre for Reindeer Husbandry has just completed its board meeting, held in Guovdageaidnu / Kautokeino, on the heels of the Arctic Council Senior Arctic Officials Meeting, wrapping up a busy week for ICR. The Board meeting had a full complement, reflecting its international makeup. In attendence were Chair Johan Mathis Turi, ICR Director Anders Oskal, Mai Britt Utsi, Monika Sundset (Norway), Berit Marie Jonsson (Sweden), Juha Magga (Finland) and Vladimir Etylin (Russia).
